About me

Hello! I’m Cam Medrano, a visual journalist and independent filmmaker based in NYC. Right now, I work as a production assistant for Newsweek.

My background is in TV news and documentary film. I’m an eager team member with experience doing anything from reporting breaking news and writing VOs to designing pitch decks and editing advertising material.

My love for media production began in middle school. With an iPod Touch and iMovie, I was unstoppable. I’d make video edits of anything under the sun — my favorite movies, compilations of friends, the cockroaches at school… Like I said, anything under the sun.

I never outgrew this love for creating. I moved from Sacramento, CA to Missouri to pursue a degree in documentary and film production from the University of Missouri. M-I-Z! I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Documentary Journalism, a minor in film and a certificate in Multicultural Studies.

While living in the Midwest, I’ve freelanced for shoots all across the region and worked on a handful of film crews.

Though my passion is for TV, digital video and film, I’ve been able to foster an appreciation for still photography. My work has appeared in the Columbia Missourian newspaper and Vox Magazine. I also worked for a local NBC affiliate, KOMU 8 News, as a production associate and digital producer.

How can I help you?
